stories for children and the child within

Change's Journey to the Stars is a fictional tale about a dog's loving life and subsequent journey to the stars. Abstractly, it deals with death and dying in a gentle and magical way, full of love and positivity. Children who have not experienced the death of a pet read it as it is written, as a journey in and of itself. Children who have experienced the death of a pet or loved one can feel the joy of having loved that pet or person, the comfort of knowing that their pet or loved one loved them endlessly, and they are following their dreams.

Tamara wrote The Tale of Bootsy Long Paws in her daughter’s notebook soon after they adopted Bootsy as a little tiny puppy. Once written, she went about illustrating it on accordion-folded watercolor paper – making an accordion book in one take – there were no erasers or replacement pages. This book tells the story of an adventurous little dog as he travels the world and visits the ancient seven wonders in a whimsical and completely believable fashion.

Tamara and her daughter would encounter bunnies on their daily walks. Bunnies looking this way, and bunnies looking that way. And so, What Bunnies Think was written. A philosophical look at the minds of rabbits in the wild.
